legal matters and a word of warning………
We give freely of our time and resources to projects helping homeless and vulnerable people. We also act fairly and impartially to our own tenants when they have genuine problems or changes of circumstances.
However, the ability to do this, and the time which can be devoted to this, will be curtailed by management time having to be spent on simply bad, dishonest or even discourteous tenants.
If you are such a tenant, please don’t try to rent from any Place Group UK business.
We are licensed by the Office of Fair Trading under the Consumer Credit Act. We are also registered with Experian, the main external UK credit reference agency, with whom we may share details and pass on information such as suspected fraud, non payment and linked addresses. We participate in schemes aimed at avoiding fraud against Local Authorities and Government Agencies.
The Place Group UK separate in house legal and compliance department is registered with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and acts exclusively for Place Group UK together with any holding, associated or subsidiary businesses (and any businesses in which Place Group UK may by way of joint venture have an interest) and for the managers of those businesses.
At all times we aim to protect ourselves, public funds, and other tenants from dishonest and fraudulent activity.
Therefore, just like when applying to your bank for a loan or an account, tenants applying to any Place Group UK business will be required to sign an informed consent under the Data Protection Act which will permit us to pass on your details in the event that you act fraudulently or dishonestly towards us, the Local Authority or any Government Agency, and/or in the event that you use our address dishonestly and/or to avoid other commercial debts.
We also issue civil legal proceedings (including bankruptcy) against tenants who deliberately and intentionally try to avoid paying us, and/or or who deliberately and intentionally damage our properties.
Therefore, if you are a bad tenant, please rent else where.
